Our Services

Our services here at By Your Side Home Health Services consist of a variety of options that are geared towards making each client feel as much comfort as possible. Here are some of the services and treatments we offer here at By Your Side Home Health Services.

Caregivers can assist with the application of non-medicated, non-prescription lotions and solutions when the client’s skin is unbroken and when there are no active chronic skin issues.

Caregivers assist clients with ambulation through physical assistance or supervision depending on the need.

Caregivers can assist clients with bathing. Bed baths can be given only if the home care worker has been cleared to perform the task by the agency and if the family is able to either participate in the care or provide ongoing feedback.

Caregivers can assist the client with dressing including lifting the client’s upper and lower extremities.

Caregivers are able to encourage clients to remain compliant with a prescribed exercise program as well as provide passive assistance only as tolerated by the client.

Assistance with feeding is provided for clients who can swallow independently and who can remain in an upright position unassisted.

Caregivers can assist with the maintenance and appearance of a client’s hair including shampooing with non-medicated shampoo, drying, combing, and styling hair.

Caregivers can assist in and perform oral care for clients including denture care and basic oral hygiene.

Caregivers can assist a client with repositioning them in a bed, wheelchair, or other furniture when prompted by the client or representative.

Caregivers are able to assist clients with shaving using a safety razor or electric shaver.

Caregivers can assist a client to and from the bathroom, provide assistance with bedpans, urinals, and commodes, provide pericare, and also assist with incontinence care (changing pullups or liners). Trained caregivers can empty external urinary collection devices and ostomy bags.

Caregivers can assist clients with transfers only when the client has sufficient balance and strength to reliably stand, pivot, and assist with the transfer. Adaptive and safety equipment may be used in transfers, provided that the client is fully trained in the use of the equipment and can direct the transfer step by step. Adaptive equipment may include, but is not limited to wheelchairs, shower chairs, and grab bars.

Reminders: Caregivers can assist a client with medication reminders but only when medications have been pre-selected or prepared by the client, a family member, a nurse, or a pharmacist and are stored in containers other than the prescription bottles, such as weekly medication boxes. Medication boxes must be clearly marked as to the day and time of dosage.

Please note: Medication reminding includes inquiries as to whether medications were taken, verbal prompting to take medications, handing the appropriately marked weekly medication box to the client, and opening the appropriately marked box for the client if the client is physically unable to open the container. These limitations apply to all prescription and all over-the-counter medications.

Caregivers can assist with groceries, paying the client’s bills, or any other shopping only after authorization is obtained to access the client’s personal funds.
